I was driving home and going through Gilling. A lovely early finish which is tare for me, heaven. I saw two people out jogging with three black dogs in the heat and I looked down 23.5 degrees.

Please remember your dog can die of heatstroke! Not the best thing to do in this heat.

Keep them cool at home if possible. I have a cooling coat for Rosie and its wet down out on and keeps her really cool, if you put your hand under she’s really chilled out, wish o had one. If I was a thinner versions of me I would wear one under my clothes. I would still still not recommend heavy excessive excersise.

Mental stimulation is great to wear you dog out. Bone chewing keeps Rosie happy for a long while. Only raw and frozen bought from a reputable source. Could be a ball and paddling pool, or late evening walk.

What are the symptoms to look out for exhaustion which is the step before the heat stroke It means your dog is very hot and is barely capable of regulating his body temperature.

When this happens the next step is your dog cannot regulate his body temperature anymore, and a heat stroke follows. Look out for these symptoms. These also can mean other things too.

Excessive panting

Slow movements & lethargic

Agitated, moving around cannot settle

Laboured breathing & heart beat racing

Unusual drooling

Coordination us not correct

Gums can be excessively red or very pale

Diarrhoea or Vomiting

This can the lead to a Seizure and or

Coma

If you suspect your dog had heat stroke, call a vet immediately, cool your dog sensible, take your vets advice. Do not give dog ice water just tepid water!  A dog sweats through panting & their paws. Cool paws! Please do not do this with ice just cool water. Ice will cause damage.
